The Big Picture: God’s Blueprint for the World
The Bible was written by people who looked up at the sky, out at the oceans, and down at the dirt with absolute wonder. They did not just see random physics—they saw God’s Temple.
Think of the world like a house that God custom-built for us:

- The Floor (The Earth): A safe, steady foundation where we live, breathe, and experience His blessings.
- The Security (His Sovereignty): A boundaries-set system where God keeps the storms and chaos of life at bay.
When you step into a life of faith, you start realizing that you aren’t just an accident living on a spinning rock. You are a guest inside a beautifully designed home built by a Creator who knows you by name.
During the Artemis 11 lunar mission, the crew shared a deeply emotional and spiritual experience that transcended their different personal beliefs. The most striking story belongs to the Mission Commander, Reed Wiseman, whose perspective on existance was entirely reordered by what he witnessed.
An Unfathomable Sight
During their journey around the far side of the moon, the crew witnessed a rare celestial event: a solar eclipse from deep space, where the sun was entirely eclipsed by the moon. Looking out the window of the Orion spacecraft at the glowing, fragile earth positioned against the absolute blackness of the cosmic void, Wiseman felt an intense wave of awe.
He later reflected during a C-SPAN broadcasted NASA Press Conference that the sight was so otherworldly, he felt “humanity isn’t evolved enough tom to comprehend” what they witnessed.
The Broken Dam of Emotion
Wiseman does not consider himself a religious person, yet the raw intensity of the journey and the overwhelming beauty of the looking back at “tiny earth” left him with a profound internal weight. Upon his slash down and his return to earth he had no time to process the psychological gravity of the trip.
Overwhelmed and seeking a way to unpack the shift in his consciousness, Wiseman requested an unscheduled visit from a military chaplain on the Navy recovery ship. The moment he saw the chaplain – a total stranger – and caught sight of the small cross on the chaplain’s collar, a dam broke. Wiseman completely broke down in tears, finding comfort in a spiritual symbol despite his secular life.
Shared Consciousness
Wiseman’s pilot, Victor Glover, a devout Christian who carried a Bible on a 10 day journey. Glover looked at earth and saw a purposed-built “spacecraft created by God uniquely to sustain humanity.
The Final Message
Right before Orion slipped behind the far side of the moon and lost all communication with Houston, Glover’s final radio transmission was a reference to Christ’s greatest command: to love God and love your neighbor.
The Unified Truth
Despite their vastly different backgrounds in faith, both Wiseman and Glover returned to earth expressing identical feelings of profound gratitude, humility, and an understanding that humanity must act as a single crew to protect their home planet.
